Library Consortium

Empowering library collaboration in support of success, equity, diversity, social justice, and access to resources that spark creativity and intellectual enrichment.

Over $200,000 Saved Annually

The consortium achieves savings and operational efficiencies for the CSCU System. In 2023, the consortium saved the CSCU System over $200,000 on subscriptions to e-collections and software* and countless staff hours that would have been needed to process and manage duplicated subscriptions.

The consortium funds and manages access to core e-collections (including EBSCO databases, JSTOR collections, Scopus, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and university press e-books):

The consortium licenses software that is critical to the CSCU libraries’ management of collections and related services:

  • Alma (integrated library management system used by library staff):
8.4 million bibliographic and portfolio records managed
  • Primo (discovery interface for searching library collections):
    906,706 searches performed
  • EZproxy
Authorization and authentication tool that give all CSCU students, faculty, and staff off-campus access to e-collections
  • RapidILL (Software at the state universities for interlibrary loan of articles and book chapters):
3,358 documents delivered to CSU students, faculty, and staff

*Based on a comparison of subscription costs paid through the consortium vs list prices for individual CSCU institutions.

**Based on usage data during the 2023 calendar year. In most cases, access to consortium-provided e-collections is limited to the Connecticut state universities.
