In-Person Classes to Resume at CSCU in the Fall

In-person classes will resume at state colleges this fall, with mask-wearing and social-distancing requirements still in effect.

Board of Regents Holds 2021-22 Tuition and Fees Flat

The Board of Regents voted to set tuition and fees for the 17 CSCU institutions for the 2021-22 academic year. Under the approved structure, tuition and most mandatory fees will remain flat at all institutions.

CCSU Establishes the John Lewis Institute for Social Justice

Central Connecticut State University established the John Lewis Institute for Social Justice, a two-year program honoring the Georgia congressman’s legacy of civil rights activism that provides students with practical experience and leadership skills. CSCU Foundation Legacy Scholarships

The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Foundation is offering Legacy Scholarships for incoming freshman and community college transfer students to the universities. All scholarships are for Connecticut residents and dependent on financial need. Applications are due by Thursday, May 13.

NSF Awards SCSU $1.4 Million Grant to Increase STEM Teachers in High-Needs School Districts

12 CSU Students Receive Henry Barnard Awards

Twelve outstanding students from the four Connecticut State Universities were awarded the prestigious Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award by the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Foundation.

CSCU Military Friendly Schools

Eastern Connecticut State University, and Asnuntuck, Manchester, Middlesex, Norwalk, Quinebaug Valley, and Three Rivers Community Colleges earned the 2021-22 Military Friendly® School designation by VIQTORY. QVCC maintained gold status distinction, and MxCC was awarded silver level designation.

17 Eastern Students Present at Virtual NCUR Conference

Seventeen Eastern Connecticut State University students presented at the virtual National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), the largest undergraduate research conference in the country.


CCC and Eversource Partner on Training Program

Capital Community College, Eversource, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Unions 420 and 457, are partnering to offer a certification program that will help prepare the next generation of electrical lineworkers in Connecticut.

Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Grant Assists ACC in Resuming Second Chance Pell Program

Asnuntuck Community College resumed offering credit courses to incarcerated individuals as part of a federal pilot program known as “Second Chance Pell” that paused due to COVID. ACC was awarded $45,000 in grant funding from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, and a portion of those funds have been designated for the Second Chance Program.


Students Graduate from MxCC Skill Up for Manufacturing Course

Eleven Middlesex Community College Skill Up for Manufacturing trainees headed into the workforce after a graduation ceremony on April 6. The free program is offered by Workforce Alliance in partnership with manufacturers and community colleges.


NCCC Accepted to CCRC’s Summer 2021 Institute on Guided Pathways

After a national application process, Northwestern Connecticut Community College was selected to attend the Community College Research Center (CCRC) at Columbia University’s Summer 2021 Institute, Guided Pathways at Rural Colleges: Using Data to Launch Large-Scale Reform.


COSC names New Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs

Charter Oak State College has named David Ferreira, Ed.D., its new provost and vice president of academic affairs. He was most  the Interim AVP of Academic Operations at the future Connecticut State Community College, and  Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Northwestern Connecticut Community College.

WCSU Earns CRLA Certification

Western Connecticut State University's Ancell Commons and Tutoring Resource Center was awarded International Tutor Training Program Certification through the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) — the professional organization and certifying body for tutoring and learning assistance in higher education.


Connecticare and Yoga in Our City Offer Virtual Classes

ConnectiCare and Yoga In Our City launched its free wellness program’s virtual class schedule open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill-levels. It will run through May 2021 when the regular Yoga In Our City outdoor season begins. Yoga In Our City offers free, outdoor yoga classes at parks in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Waterbury during the summer.
