Scholarships
Our scholarship programs are designed to encourage and support students who set educational goals, persevere, and would benefit from financial awards, internships, and college and career opportunities. Our scholarships provide financial assistance and support to first-year, transfer, and undergraduate students. Annually, we celebrate their unique academic and career goals and achievements.
Scholarships
For New Students
T. Clark Hull Public Service Scholarship
Award: $500 - one award for incoming Eastern Connecticut State University students
Deadline: May 4, 2022
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Resident of Connecticut
- Available to graduating high school seniors from public or private institutions
- Targeted to students who demonstrate leadership and/or volunteer commitment to school or community
- Student must be accepted for full time admission to one of the four state universities.
- Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (A = 4.0)
- Student must demonstrate financial need
- The University will confirm both the applicant’s financial need through review of the FAFSA and their GPA through review of their transcript before final selection by the CSCU Foundation

Ted Martocchio Scholarship (building and trades union)
Award: $1,000 – one award
Deadline: May 4, 2022
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Resident of Connecticut
- Student must be the child of a member of the CT State Building and Trades Union
- Available to graduating high school seniors from public or private institutions
- Student must be accepted for full time admission at one of the four state universities
- Student must have a minimum 2.75 GPA (A = 4.0)
- Student must demonstrate financial need
- Examples of leadership or volunteer commitment encouraged but not required.
- The University will confirm both the applicant’s financial need through review of the FAFSA and their GPA through review of their transcript before final selection by the CSCU Foundation.
Pratt and Whitney Science and Technology Scholarship
Award: $1,000 – one award for incoming Western Connecticut State University students
Deadline: May 4, 2022
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Resident of Connecticut
- Available to graduating high school seniors from public or private institutions
- Student must be accepted for full-time admission to one of the four state universities
- Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (A = 4.0)
- Demonstrated an interest and excellence in science or technology
- Student must demonstrate financial need
- Examples of leadership or volunteer commitment encouraged but not required
- The University will confirm both the applicant’s financial need through review of the FAFSA and their GPA through review of their transcript before final selection by the CSCU Foundation
The Tulisano Humanitarian Award Scholarship
Award: $1,000 – one award
Deadline: May 4, 2022
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Student must be a resident of Rocky Hill, Connecticut graduating from an accredited public or private high school
- Student must be accepted for full time admission at any of the four state universities
- Student must have a record of academic progress
- Students must have record of public service, community involvement, and extracurricular activities
- Student must possess demonstrated leadership qualities
- Student must demonstrate financial need
- The University will confirm both the applicant’s financial need through review of the FAFSA and their GPA through review of their transcript before final selection by the CSCU Foundation

Students First Scholarship
Award: $2,020 – one award
Deadline: March 24, 2022
What is the Students First Scholarship?
- It's a joint effort between the CSCU Board of Regents and CSCU Foundation to cast a wide net in hopes of reaching more students in the State of Connecticut.
- The Students First Scholarship for 2022 will award at least one Students First Scholarship in May at $2,020.00!
- This scholarship is designed to reach any of our students in their final semester at any of our 12 CT Community Colleges, or if they graduated within the past 12 months, and plan to transfer and apply to CCSU, ECSU, SCSU, WSCU, or Charter Oak State College. The Students First Scholarship is open to all majors including general studies.
- The scholarship will be awarded annually during the month of May to eligible applicants in the amount of $2,020.00.
- The scholarship award can be applied to tuition, fees, tutoring services, textbooks, laptops, tablets and supplies specifically outlined in a syllabus.
- The window to apply for 2022 has closed.
Scholarships
For Transferring Students
Donofrio Family Science Scholarship
Award: $2,000 – one award
Deadline: May 4, 2022
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Resident of Connecticut
- Must be accepted for full time admission at one of the four state universities
- Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (A = 4.0)
- Must be a female or a minority student traditionally underrepresented in a science field that has completed his/her associate degree at a CSCU Community College and plans to matriculate directly to one of state universities to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the physical sciences.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need
- Examples of leadership or volunteer commitment encouraged but not required
- Applicant must provide a reference from a faculty sponsor
- The University will confirm both the applicant’s financial need through review of the FAFSA and their GPA through review of their transcript before final selection by the CSCU Foundation
- Award is renewable for one year based on academic performance (3.0 or better)
James Frost Scholarship
Award: $5,000 – one award
Deadline: May 4, 2022
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Resident of Connecticut
- Must be accepted for full time admission at one of four state universities
- Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (A = 4.0)
- Must be a student who has completed his/her Associate’s degree at a CSCU Community
- College and plans to matriculate directly to one of state universities to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the arts and sciences
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need
- Applicant must provide a reference from a faculty sponsor
- The University will confirm both the applicant’s financial need through review of the FAFSA and their GPA through review of their transcript before final selection by the CSCU Foundation
- Award is renewable for one year based on academic performance (3.0 or better)
