This fall semester, CSCU’s colleges and universities launched a series of walk-and-talk tours, inviting area legislators to explore institutional successes, engage with students, faculty, and staff, and discuss potential opportunities for future investment.
At Southern, new interim President Dr. Sandra Bulmer led the tour which highlighted conversations with students, exploring the university’s state-of-the-art Healthcare Simulation Center, and meeting Otus the Owl. Legislators were able to experience Southern’s innovation on full display.
The Western Connecticut State University (WestConn) legislative delegation braved the snow for a campus tour led by President Jesse Bernal. Lawmakers got a firsthand look at how WestConn trains the next generation of nurses, how its classrooms create interactive, hands-on learning experiences, and how the new Berkshire Hall has become an anchor of the Midtown campus — complete with a new dining hall, social spaces, and a fitness center.

Eastern Connecticut State University welcomed nearly 500 guests to Hurley Hall on Nov. 26 for the 19th annual "Day of Giving," providing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to local residents who might not otherwise be able to enjoy a traditional holiday meal. The Thanksgiving feast was served by Eastern students and staff, and prepared by Eastern's dining service, Eastern Eats.
CT State Housatonic brought the campus community together at its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, distributing 250 free turkeys and fresh produce to students before the Thanksgiving holiday. The event, which was held in the campus courtyard, provided bags containing turkeys, carrots, onions, and additional vegetables for CT State Housatonic students. The initiative was organized by the Office of Student Activities under the leadership of Director Medgine B. Bright, in collaboration with the Student Senate, Connecticut Foodshare, Alliance and other community partners.
Cybersecurity Guide ranked Central Connecticut State University’s Cybersecurity bachelor’s and master’s programs among the best in the country in its 2026 rankings. Central’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity was ranked #14 on Cybersecurity Guide’s Top 25 Cybersecurity Bachelor’s Programs. The university’s Master of Science in Cybersecurity was ranked #17 of the Top 25 Most Affordable Cybersecurity Master’s Degree Programs.
Dr. Isabel Logan, associate professor in the Department of Social Work at Southern Connecticut State University, was honored with the Conceptual Article of the Year award by the Journal of Social Work Education. The award recognizes her team’s groundbreaking work on the Social Work and Law Enforcement Project (SWLE) Project Integrative Model on Police Social Work — a new framework for embedding social workers within public safety and crisis‑response systems. 
Eastern Connecticut State University made a meaningful gesture during Native American Heritage Month by holding its first land acknowledgement ceremony on Nov. 19. The ceremony featured representatives from four local tribal nations in recognition of the tribal ancestral lands on which Eastern stands. The ceremony also unveiled Eastern's official land acknowledgement statement.
Myrta Groeneveld, mathematics professor and co-chair of the Mathematics Department at CT State Manchester, received national recognition from the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) at its annual conference in Reno, Nevada. She received the AMATYC 2025 Teaching Excellence Award that is given to outstanding two-year college mathematics instructors. 
Western Connecticut State University (WestConn) recently released Vamo: Episode 1, a new documentary series spotlighting the remarkable 2024 Men’s Soccer Championship season and team of highly diverse national and international players. The series captures the team’s achievements as well as the dedication, resilience, and leadership of WestConn’s student-athletes. The production was a true collaboration, produced by the Media Services Department team and assisted by students from Communication Media Production and Digital & Interactive Media Arts (DIMA). Vamo celebrates the outstanding performance of WestConn’s championship team and the creative excellence of WestConn students who had an opportunity to assist with professional production and attain hands on experience in their field.
Southern Connecticut State University is leading the way in expanding college access across Connecticut. Its Early College program allows high school students to earn university credits early. The program has grown from an initial offering of a handful of courses to offering over 70 courses in high schools, with enrollment climbing from hundreds to thousands.
Southern Connecticut State University and Western Connecticut State University (WestConn) rank among Rebellion Research’s “Top 10 Colleges in Connecticut for Earning a Healthcare Degree: A Complete 2026 Guide to the State’s Best Programs.” WestConn ranked eight and Southern ranked 10, both standing out for academic strength, clinical partnerships, and strong student outcomes in healthcare fields.
Central Connecticut State University’s commitment to global engagement gained national recognition, as The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) commended Central for its role in broadening access to international travel and study for college students. International Education Coordinator Dr. Zongxiang Mei received special recognition from ECA for her service on the selection panels of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.
