| Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) Chancellor Terrence Cheng and the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education announced the appointment of Dr. Sandra Minor Bulmer, Ph.D., as interim president of Southern Connecticut State University Dr. Bulmer has extensive experience in higher education, including 26 years at Southern. She currently serves as the dean of the university’s College of Health and Human Services and served as a professor in Southern’s Department of Public Health. She begins her new role on July 1, 2025. |

| After an extensive and inclusive national search, CT State has appointed seven new campus presidents to lead the campuses into the next chapter of CT State’s growth and transformation. The search was chaired by Dr. Duncan Harris, CEO of CT State Capital; and vice-chaired by Bonnie Solivan, Instructional Design and Educational Technology Campus Lead Coordinator at CT State Asnuntuck. |
| Nearly 2,000 Students have Deposited at CSCU Institutions Through CAAP |

| Through the Connecticut Automatic Admission Program (CAAP), 1,966 high school seniors statewide have deposited at Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western Connecticut State Universities for fall 2025. The number of students who have deposited as of May 2025 are: 816 at Central Connecticut State University, 377 at Eastern Connecticut State University, 543 at Southern Connecticut State University, and 230 at Western Connecticut State University.
Through the CAAP program, graduating Connecticut high school seniors who have a 3.0 weighted grade point average (GPA) or a 2.75 unweighted GPA are eligible upon application to be automatically admitted to participating colleges and universities. CAAP is administered by CSCU in partnership with the nonprofit organization Common App. |
| | | Southern Connecticut State University and CT State Gateway will be powered by solar energy after the construction of a new solar project aimed at saving the state millions over the next decade. Greenskies Clean Focus, a solar energy company in North Haven, announced the completion of a 2.32-megawatt solar project at 361 Old Tavern Road in Orange, powering the two campuses. |

| CSCU Project Director for CT Health Horizons Receives CCNW AwardNestor Leon, CSCU Project Director for the CT Health Horizons Initiative, received the Connecticut Center for Nursing Workforce (CCNW) Annual Excellence Award for his work on CT Health Horizons. The award, presented at the 2025 Statewide Nursing Workforce Summitt, acknowledges work done over the past year to amplify the importance of fostering collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of Connecticut residents.

| CT State Community College (CT State) celebrated 25 high-achieving students statewide who were named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Connecticut Academic Team. In addition to being selected All-Connecticut Academic Team scholars, Jake Haynes received the New Century Transfer scholarship, Leah Thomas received the Century Workforce scholarship, Kathylee Perez was named a 2024 Coca-Cola Gold scholar, while Amelia Kearney and Max Richardson were recognized as Coca-Cola Silver and Bronze scholars, respectively.

| The Willimantic Stop & Shop grocery store presented Eastern Connecticut State University with a generous donation in support of its efforts to combat food insecurity on campus. | Evaluation Finds that GEAR UP CT Grant Increases Students’ College and Career AwarenessIn the latest year six evaluation report from GEAR UP CT, data from surveys and focus groups suggest that the grant was successful in increasing students’ college and career awareness. The report found that across all three GEAR UP CT districts, 91 percent of surveyed students reported that GEAR UP helped provide them with skills and knowledge for post-secondary life, and 71 percent of surveyed students reported feeling ready or very ready to begin college or a career.
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs Connecticut (GEAR UP CT) is a U.S. Department of Education–funded program that aims to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. The seven-year GEAR UP CT grant awarded to the CSCU System Office, serves a student cohort in East Hartford, Meriden and Waterbury, and each district is paired with a community college partner that includes CT State Manchester, CT State Middlesex, and CT State Naugatuck Valley.

| Stanley, Central's seasonal resident duck, returned to campus just before Mother’s Day and brought nine new ducklings into the world on May 23. Central Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Kelly Selby and her team gave the new family some time to get settled in before escorting them on May 29 to their home turf at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain.
