Connecticut State Community College (CT State) celebrated the grand opening of its new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center at CT State Tunxis with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Governor Ned Lamont, college officials, and area manufacturers. Located at 21 Spring Lane in Farmington adjacent to the Tunxis campus, the newly renovated facility adds more than 14,000 square feet of dedicated space for advanced manufacturing machine technology programs and customized training. |
| In episode 12 of “Office Hours,” CSCU Chancellor Terrence Cheng hosts Dr. Zulma R. Toro, the first woman and Hispanic chief executive to lead Central Connecticut State University as president. In this episode, President Toro shares how her background in engineering and research has shaped her view of the value of higher education; what inspired her to have a career in higher education; the initiatives she hopes to continue in the legacy of Central; and the experience students will receive when they go to Central. President Toro recently marked the conclusion of Central's 175th anniversary by sealing a time capsule to be displayed at the Elihu Burritt Library and opened in 2049. |

The proclamation aligns with the national observance of Community College Month throughout April. This year’s theme, “Best Decision Ever,” highlights the vital role of community colleges in offering accessible pathways to higher education, economic mobility, and career advancement. |

| | According to the latest rankings at RegisteredNursing.org, the online RN to BSN programs at three CSCU institutions are ranked best in the state. The online program at Central Connecticut State University is ranked number one, followed by Western Connecticut State University at number two, and Charter Oak State College at number five. |

First place went to Katherine Escalante (left) and Christian Deras-Rodriguez (right) with their business “GoodBuy,” a platform designed to help consumers make ethical purchasing decisions. |

| Last fall, a group of seven Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) Honors College students shared their work at the 2024 National Collegiate Honors Council conference in Kansas City, MO for the first time on a national stage. Also making presentations were SCSU Professors Luke Eilderts of the World Languages & Literatures Department, Chelsea Harry of the Philosophy Department, and Terese Gemme of the Music Department and former Honors College director.

| More than 100 educators in Connecticut’s higher education community recently visited CT State Community College Middlesex to attend the sixth annual Open Educational Resources (OER) Summit. Sponsored by the CT OER Coordinating Council, the event explored how OER (free, high-quality alternatives to traditional textbooks) can make a college degree a more affordable and open experience for students. Nunez from April 7-27 in the Art Gallery as part of “136 Years of Eastern Leadership,” an exhibition of Eastern's leaders over the years. The special exhibition is one of many activities and events scheduled as part of President Karim Ismaili's inauguration on April 11 as Eastern's seventh president. |

The episode highlights the value of persistence, competence, and personal responsibility, principles that guide success in manufacturing and more. In the episode, Adrienne shares her experience overcoming imposter syndrome and explains how she combats this by focusing on tangible, hands-on results. |
