Emergency Notification System

The Connecticut State University System (CSUS) has put in place an Emergency Notification System (ENS) developed by MIR3, Inc. at each of its four universities and the System Office to provide notification for when an emergency condition is imminent, or a situation exists that threatens the health and safety of individuals.

CSUS System Office

The section below provides information for CSUS System Office staff to register for the ENS at the CSUS System Office.

The ENS will permit the System Office to distribute emergency information via telephone, e-mail, text message and/or voice message. Messages can be provided to land-lines or cell phones. Individuals will receive information or instructions relative to the specific emergency. (Please do not sign up with your System Office telephone number.)

How do I sign up?

  • Please read the important terms and conditions, below.
  • Review the step-by-step instruction guide, below.
  • After you have read the instructions and step-by-step guide, go to "Sign Up"
Your phone numbers, e-mail or any other information supplied to the ENS will be used solely for the use of emergency and weather alerts. When the ENS is activated, the source of the call will appear on your caller ID as 493-0111. You will not receive any other messages from the System Office or spam from any other source via the ENS.

Step 1 - How to create an account

When you go to the CSUS ENS portal (pictured below) you will need to select "Create Account." No other action is necessary. Do NOT enter username or password on this screen.

Click on "Create Account" on the CSUS Emergency Notification System portal.

Step 2

When you reach the "Create Account" screen, enter your CSUS email account as your username. (ie: simpsonh@ct.edu). Then click the "Create" link. A temporary password will then be sent to your CSUS email address.

Step 3

Check your CSUS e-mail

Once you have successfully created an account, you will receive a verification e-mail at your CSUS e-mail address. It may take a few minutes for this e-mail to arrive. The verification e-mail will contain a temporary password which you will use to log in to the system to enter your contact information. Remember, your username is your CSUS e-mail address.

Step 4

How to log in and set up your preferences

After receiving the confirmation e-mail, you should log in to the CSUS ENS portal. Once logged in, you will need to provide your e-mail address and temporary password in order to set up your notification information.

Terms and Conditions

As part of its continuing efforts to enhance the safety and security of the Connecticut State University System community, CSUS has established an emergency notification system in conjunction with MIR3, Inc. This system will permit the system office to distribute emergency information via telephone, e-mail, text message, and/or voice message.

The CSUS System Office will employ the emergency notification system:
  • In the event of an emergency which poses a substantial threat to the health and/or safety of staff;
  • To alert staff of weather-related closings; and
  • During routine testing in which any message sent will be identified as such.
Although the system is optional and voluntary, the CSUS system office strongly urges staff to take advantage of the emergency notification system. Should you decide to do so, it is your responsibility to:
  • Provide accurate contact information using the emergency notification system data input page; and
  • Update that information as necessary.
In determining the method by which notification is to be made, please be aware that, depending on your cellular service plan, you may incur charges for receiving voice mail and text messages sent via the emergency notification system. By providing contact information for purposes of receiving emergency notifications via the emergency notification system, you are acknowledging that you will be responsible for the payment of any charges assessed by your carrier.

CSUS has arranged to provide the emergency notification system as part of a broader system for notifying members of the university communities of emergencies by which they may be affected. However, CSUS cannot and does not guarantee that any particular message will be received by every person who has provided contact information. In addition, while the emergency notification system is a method of enhanced communication, it is not intended to be part of a security system, and it is not a guarantee of safety.

The effectiveness of the emergency notification system depends upon individuals providing accurate and up-to-date personal contact information. Please be sure to update your information whenever your data changes (i.e., phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc.), so that the emergency notification system will have the most current information with which to contact you.

By utilizing the MIR3 password you are to receive to subscribe to and enter contact data into the emergency notification system, you acknowledge and agree that you have read and accept the terms and conditions outlined above.
