Common Courses Across CSUS Universities
Working towards those goals, department chairs in 21 disciplines at the CSUS universities conducted a thorough analysis of the credit transfer patterns, course content and learning outcomes for the most enrolled lower division courses.
First List of Common Course Equivalents
The result: the first set of common course equivalents at CSUS, which includes 84 courses in 21 disciplines, and which are to be designated in appropriate course registration materials at each of the universities. All the courses are also listed on a common course chart, which is to be updated annually.A Common Course Equivalent is one that
- transfers among at least three CSUS universities in a fully reciprocal fashion
- is made easily identifiable to students and the general public, and
- is maintained and updated at each university responding to any curricular changes that may take place
Course Credit in Transfer Toward Intended Major
Annotations of General Education/Liberal Arts credit refer to general university requirements. They do not necessarily reflect lower division course requirements for specific major programs. In addition to the common course chart, students are urged to consult curriculum sheets for the intended major at the university they are attending, or considering attending.Transferring Credits from CT Community Colleges
CSUS and the Connecticut Community College system have developed a Transfer Compact in recent years which offers Dual Admission to students who are planning to enroll at a CSUS university after completing an associate's degree. In addition, various specific academic programs have transfer compacts in place that provide effective pathways to advance from the community college to university.Dual Admission Program
First-Year Experience (FYE)
Revised and enhanced First-Year Experience (FYE) programs at Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western Connecticut State Universities focusing on freshmen are contributing to the success of students entering college for the first time. The results are evident in stronger student retention and academic performance.-
