General Admission

Admission to the CSUS universities is competitive, and each university has its own application and admissions process.

If you have questions about whether you qualify as an in-state or out-of-state student for tuition purposes, please read the Connecticut General Statutes regarding residency (pdf).

Prospective students should note that students unable to do college-level math or English will have to complete remedial classes within their first 24 credits.

Transfers & Articulation Agreements

Making the transition to one of the universities of the Connecticut State University System is easier than ever (and it is a very popular route)! Whether you are transferring from a community college or a four-year college or university, the admissions staff at Central, Eastern, Southern and Western will work with you to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Dual Admission

The Connecticut State University System and the Connecticut Community College System have developed a system-to-system Transfer Compact which offers a Dual Admission program for students who are planning to enroll at a CSUS university after completing an associate's degree.

Articulation

Articulation is a term used to describe the agreement that certain courses taught at a two-year CCC will be accepted at a four-year CSUS institution. This means the CSUS will accept credits from the CCCs as listed in the agreements. Students should contact their community college advisor for information regarding transfer credits in specific programs.

Open House

You are invited to take a first-hand look at what the Connecticut State University System (CSUS) has to offer. An Open House is held at Central, Eastern, Southern or Western Connecticut State University, usually each fall and often in the spring as well. You're welcome to visit more than one of our universities! (If there isn't an Open House coming up, you may schedule a visit.)

Perhaps you have heard that the CSUS universities offer more than 160 majors, highly regarded faculty, an affordable, accessible, high quality education and community service and internship opportunities. All true.

In fact, full-time undergraduate and graduate enrollment are both at the highest level ever, and in recent years the Open House sessions have received an overwhelming and enthusiastic response. Applications to the CSUS universities increased by 11 percent last year, and enrollment is up this year, among freshmen and transfer students.

What to Expect

During an Open House, you will meet faculty, administrators, staff and current students in sessions designed to answer questions you may have - including details about financial aid and housing.

The objective is to introduce you to opportunities that Central, Eastern, Southern and Western can provide as you pursue higher education in the State of Connecticut. Campus facilities, including residence halls, library, student center and academic buildings are regularly included in guided tours that are available.

We look forward to seeing you.
