Providing Economic Impact
Frederick Krol, a Central graduate, is contributing to the state’s economy through Progress Inc., his Newington-based engineering and development firm. The firm began engineering and developing consumer, medical and military mechanical-based products, and now develops “HangTime” — a device for mounting a snowboard on a wall. “HangTime” is manufactured on site and has been on the market in local stores and at hangtimeusa.com
Krol earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering technology and master’s degree in industrial technology management. He worked at Central’s Manufacturing Application Center and began his company in Central’s Institute of Technology and Business Development (ITBD) incubator space about 12 years ago. He grew the business with his partner Kevin Polak, employs seven people andowns the building. Krol also sits on the ITBD board where he was once a student worker.
