ConnSCU works closely with business organizations and individual businesses throughout Connecticut, responding to workforce needs in the development and refinement of academic programs, in providing internships and co-op experiences for students, and in offering support and assistance to fledgling and growing businesses and entrepreneurs. Some of those initiatives are highlighted below.
Business & Industry Services Network (BISN)
BISN is a collaborative program linking business, industry, state government, and education. The Connecticut Community Colleges align workforce data, industry cluster performance and national trends to develop and deliver customized workforce training programs, business needs assessment, and consultation services.
Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
SBDC provides small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs with a wide array of technical assistance support to help strengthen business performance and sustainability and create new businesses.
Institute of Technology and Business Development (ITBD)
Combining the expertise of a professional staff, academic experts, private sector advisors, and government resources, ITBD turns ideas into ventures, aids the growth of existing businesses, and helps Connecticut's business community succeed in today's challenging domestic and international market.
Statewide Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Committee (SAMAC)
SAMAC was formed to assist with the oversight and guidance of work at the ConnSCU manufacturing centers. The existence, support and guidance of SAMAC will help to successfully grow and enhance the work of these centers.
