December 2013
Board of Regents President Gregory W. Gray Dear Colleagues,

As the holiday season approaches, I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation for your dedication and collaboration during this time of transition and growth at our Connecticut State Colleges & Universities system. Your dedication, passion, and energy are keys to our success, and they are critical as we move forward in building a strong future for our system, our students, and the State of Connecticut.

Keeping true to our mission of access, ConnSCU's 12 community colleges, four state universities, and online college remain committed to providing affordable and innovative programs for our students. We are certainly building a stronger workforce and contributing to Connecticut's economic growth, but more than that, our faculty and staff are important partners in helping our students achieve their goals and dreams.

After visiting each of your campuses, talking with students, celebrating new buildings and expanded programs, and seeing the commitment to learning at each institution, I know that we have made an important difference to our students and to the state on the whole.

It is in that spirit that we are launching our plan to build a world-class system of higher education and usher in a new era of learning, accountability, and investment in the institutions that are so integral to training the state's workforce. Excel CT will put our system on the path to excellence—expanding our academics, modernizing our infrastructure, and most importantly, ensuring the highest quality learning environment for our students.

Next year will be a good change year for us, but before we get there I want to stop and appreciate our colleagues for their accomplishments and dedication. I hope all of you have a joyous holiday season.

Sincerely,
Gregory W. Gray
