New Degree Program to Meet Needs of the Energy and Public Utility Sector

A new bachelor’s degree program in Energy and Utility Leadership will launch at Southern Connecticut State University’s School of Business in fall 2025. The program was created in collaboration with regulatory bodies and industry partners from the energy and utility sectors who helped guide the program and shape the curriculum.

Central Graduate Programs Earn Spots on Best Graduate Schools List

Three graduate programs at Central Connecticut State University appear on the 2025 U.S. News and World Report annual rankings of Best Graduate Schools in the country. Two Central programs — Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) and Central’s Rehabilitation Counseling —appear in the Best Health School rankings.

WCSU Tick Lab Seeks Properties for Tick Study

Researchers at the Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) Tickborne Disease Prevention Laboratory need the public’s help for Project ITCH (Is Tick Control Helping?), a residential research study entering its second year. WCSU’s tick experts are studying natural tick control products and are seeking Connecticut homeowners who are willing to participate. National Conference at Southern to Spotlight Evolving Role of Social Work in Policing

The Social Work and Law Enforcement (SWLE) Project’s Fourth Annual National Conference on Police Social Work, “Emerging Practices in Police Social Work,” will bring together professionals, researchers, and changemakers nationwide to explore the evolving intersection of law enforcement and social work from May 27–May 29 at Southern Connecticut State University.  Keynote speaker and Southern alum Jared Buchanan, 22, a Marine veteran, suicide prevention advocate, and ultramarathon runner, will open the conference.

CT State Tunxis Celebrates Earth Day with Campus-Wide Activities and Ribbon Cutting

CT State Tunxis marked Earth Day with a campus-wide celebration focused on environmental awareness, education, and action. The event featured presentations by NBC 30 meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan, Ed Baker on energy management, and a student talk on the impact of fast fashion. A highlight of the day was the ribbon-cutting for the Tunxis Campus Closet, a student-led initiative offering a permanent space for clothing swaps to promote sustainable fashion. Other activities included a campus cleanup, plant swap, and electric vehicle display. Local vendors and organizations offered resources on sustainable living, theater students performed skits with environmental themes, and participants signed a Sustainability Pledge. The event encouraged optimism and collective action toward a healthier, more sustainable future.
