Class and Race Formation in North America
Eastern Connecticut State University
In Class and Race Formation in North America, Eastern Connecticut State University professor James Russell studies the historical development of race and class in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. From the time the Aztec empire fell to the influence of the Spanish, Russell traces each North American country’s formation of class systems and views on race. His book reviews the history of each country and shows the reader the interactions that led to the current structure and institutions of these countries. Russell uses the development of the North American Free Trade Agreement and its results to demonstrate how ideas of race and class pervade North American policy and public opinion.
